Yesterday was World Soil Day and in Hawthorns we celebrated our soil and all its uses. All the classes watched videos about soil formation and how important it is to all of us. Some of the children took part in experiments to see how the soil differs within Hawthorns.
Mr. McMahon led the experiments using soil from four different areas of the grounds. He then added the same amount of water to each container of soil and the children made predictions about what they thought would happen. The containers were then left overnight to settle. This morning Mr. McMahon came back into Willow Class to check the results.
